WASHINGTON / RankWire.AI / – U.S. Treasury Department plans to issue $119 billion in notes and bonds through three separate auctions scheduled for next week. The sequence begins on Oct. 6 with a $58 billion offering of three-year notes. On Oct. 7, Treasury will sell $39 billion of 10-year notes, followed by a final auction on Oct. 8 for $22 billion of 30-year bonds. These offerings align with Treasury’s standard financing calendar and match the sizes outlined in its latest quarterly refunding schedule.

The new three-year note, maturing on Oct. 15, 2029, will be issued for the first time. Meanwhile, the 10-year note will be a reopening of an existing security with a 4.625% coupon, maturing on Aug. 15, 2036. Similarly, the 30-year bond will reopen a previous issue with a 5.125% coupon, maturing on Aug. 15, 2056. Reopening securities allows the Treasury to increase the total outstanding amount while keeping the original coupon rate and maturity date intact. Investors may bid either competitively or noncompetitively following Treasury’s standard auction procedures.
All three securities are scheduled to settle on Oct. 15, as per the Treasury’s published timetable. Competitive bids specify the yield investors are willing to accept, while noncompetitive bids agree to the yield determined at auction. The Treasury releases the final pricing, bid data, and allotment details after each sale concludes, including the high yield and accepted bids. These fixed-interest securities are key components of federal marketable debt.
Three consecutive debt offerings scheduled by Treasury
These October auctions follow similar offerings in September, when the Treasury sold $39 billion of the 10-year note on Sept. 9, which had a high yield of 4.834% and attracted about $105.8 billion in bids, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.71. The security, with a 4.625% coupon, matures in August 2036. The October reopening will add another $39 billion of that note to the existing amount outstanding.
On Sept. 10, Treasury auctioned $22 billion of the 30-year bond, which produced a high yield of 5.308%. Investors submitted bids totaling approximately $57.5 billion, giving a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.61. This bond carries a 5.125% coupon and matures in August 2056. The upcoming auction will add another $22 billion of the same security. Final yield, pricing, and bidding details will be published after the sale concludes on Thursday.
The auction sizes align with October’s funding strategy
These auctions are part of the broader borrowing plan for the last quarter of 2026. Treasury projected $628 billion of net marketable borrowing from October through December, based on an estimated year-end cash balance of $850 billion. The government issues marketable debt regularly via bills, notes, bonds, and other securities, adjusting issuance across maturities through its established financing process, and providing schedules and estimates for investors.
The total of $119 billion matches the amounts listed in Treasury’s August financing plan for October, which called for $58 billion of three-year notes, $39 billion of 10-year notes, and $22 billion of 30-year bonds. The schedule begins with the three-year auction on Tuesday, followed by the 10-year sale on Wednesday, and the 30-year bond on Thursday. Official results—including pricing, yields, and demand figures—will be announced after each auction, outlining next week’s trio of U.S. government debt offerings.
